Mom’s Comments Posted on September 18th, 2001
Ashley and Lucky came to us in 1993 from Meow Aid. They were rescued
from a roadside - left for dead. Although sisters, Ashley, the big
grey girl, is much stockier than Lucky, our little black "bunny". When
the girls were just about six months old, we took them to be
spade. Unfortunately both were already pregnant and had their babies
on the same day. Ashley had three little grey babies, all fairly
chubby. Lucky waited for me to get home from work before she too gave
birth to three scrawny little black, orange and brown kittens. Ashley
was the little mother hen and ended up nursing all six babies as Lucky
repeatedly brought her kittens to my bed and walked away. She was
definitely a mother by accident only! Needless to say, both the girls
were spade and all the kittens were found good homes. Whenever either
Rick or I are alone, Lucky will drag a a mouse or bird through the cat
door and leave it for dinner. She is just doing her duty in bringing
in a meal here and there. Poor little creatures, she is so fast!
Ashley eats, sleeps and lays in the sun. She is also a great
conversationalist and is very sociable. Sometimes, on a very peaceful
day, Ashley, Lucky and I lay together in the warmth and serenity of a
sunbeam for an afternoon nap. In my next life, I will be a cat.......
