tag_desc I finally managed to convince my Dad to get a computer!! I spec’ed it out for him and he ordered it himself from Gateway. After much consultation we decided that the most important part (in my Dad’s mind) was getting a cool looking monitor so I built the system around the lovely 18.2" LCD panel you see below.

Dad has jumped into computer life with both feet and is making excellent progress! All of his contacts and business cards (hundreds and hundreds of them) are scanned, OCR’ed and linked to his fax and email programs. He’s starting to explore email and uses the box exclusively for faxes and letters now. He loves the ’net. <grin>
I even sold him my first digicam on my last trip there when I bought my new Canon G1.

These pictures appear to me as simply being some old kid checking out his new toy! I must note a correction in Paddy’s narrative. His net comment was mostly undeserved primarily because I inadvertently signed up for www.penthouse.com because I thought it was a service listing high rise condos for sale and I was merely interested in furthering my historic interest in reals estate prices in and around this great city!
